Assembly Speaker Vincent Prieto (D-32) has introduced a bill that would allow New Jersey residents to decide, via a ballot question, if all of the revenue from the state fuel tax should go towards the Transportation Trust Fund.

This is promising news. In the past, the New Jersey Transportation Trust Fund (#NJTTF) has been raided, funds taken and used for non-infrastructure projects. This is part of the reason why NJTTF is close to going bankrupt on July 1, 2016 and why NJTTF has had to rely upon debt (bonds) to fund infrastructure. Dedicating NJTTF funds to infrastructure is one step forward.
