A new poll by McLaughlin & Associates show strong support for the New Jersey Transportation Trust Fund (#NJTTF) among likely voters. McLaughlin & Associates interviewed 600 random likely voters (56% landline, 44% cell phone). Key finding from the poll include:
“Eighty-two percent (82%) agree (52% strongly agree) that “Politicians need to stop playing political games with New Jersey’s Transportation Trust Fund, which is going bankrupt, and they need to come together in a bi-partisan manner to increase revenue to help solve the state’s transportation and infrastructure problems.'”
“Eighty-one percent (81%) agree (55% strongly agree) that ‘The politicians in Trenton should stop raiding New Jersey’s Transportation Trust Fund for more pork barrel spending projects so those revenues can be used for projects they were intended for such as building and maintaining our roads, highways and our mass transit systems.'”
“Seventy-nine percent (79%) agree (42% strongly agree) that ‘”It is very important for the Governor and the State Legislature to pass a long term transportation funding plan that makes New Jersey’s roads, highways and bridges safer, while also protecting taxpayers and meeting New Jersey’s new economic development needs.'”
“The majority of voters, 57%, approve of a ‘tax reform plan that reduces the states estate tax and the inheritance tax, which is sometimes called the death tax, and raises the state’s gas tax, in order to keep the Transportation Trust Fund from going bankrupt, while also holding the line on property taxes.'”
