ELEC825’s efforts have helped initiate major bridge-building projects, win approvals for pipeline construction and helped authorize large-scale urban redevelopment programs.

Our work with chambers of commerce, business partnerships, professional associations industry coalitions to support policies, legislation and regulations that encourage responsible economic development and stimulate growth is well documented.

Our efforts continue

We continually pursue new opportunities to stimulate economic development and we are actively advocating for several important initiatives:

Public-Private Partnerships

Public-Private Partnerships legislation would allow certain government entities to enter into PPP agreements on building and highway infrastructure projects. With the budget constraints facing all levels of government, PPP’s are an excellent option for funding vital projects that would otherwise be difficult or impossible.

ELEC825 is supporting passage of a Public-Private Partnerships bill that would create new opportunities for developers. This bill would permit certain government entities to enter into PPP agreements on building and highway infrastructure projects. With the budget constraints facing all levels of government, PPPs are an excellent option for funding vital projects that would otherwise be difficult or impossible.

Comprehensive COAH reform

ELEC825 supports comprehensive reform of the Council on Affordable Housing, the independent agency appointed by the Legislature in 1985 to carry out court-mandated efforts to provide affordable housing for the moderate- and low-income residents.

It is clear that a legislative approach is needed, ELEC825 is working with all parties to reform or dismantle COAH, which has been criticized as bloated and ineffective in carrying out its objective. We favor a solution that establishes clear standards to guide municipalities as they attempt to comply with affordable housing requirements.

Infrastructure Investments

ELEC825 is dedicated to creating an environment in NJ and NY that allows for responsible development and economic growth. A well-maintained and modern infrastructure is the backbone of a good economy, especially for States like ours in the Northeast Corridor.

We will continue to advocate for investments in transportation, water, energy, telecom, and aviation infrastructure.

Broadening reach through traditional and social media

ELEC825 invests in targeted advertising and public relations programs to communicate its messages to key audiences.

Recognizing that more people are turning to the Internet and mobile devices to get their news, ELEC825 maintains a robust social media presence to advance its initiatives.

With our goal of spurring job growth by getting people to support economic development projects throughout the Local 825 area, we intend to bolster economic prospects for our union contractors and Local 825 Operating Engineers for years to come.
